Thursday's football betting tips

With two profit making nights on a roll hopefully we are now over the bad patch of form that has dogged us all through September and with the October challenge due to start on Saturday it couldn't come at a better time. Although we do still have two days in which we can hopefully reduce the deficit for September and possibly even break a small profit.

Tony Pulis to lead Stoke City to glory tonight?

I will again take a two pronged attack approach tonight to maximise the profit potential as this always tends to bring a small profit when the times are hard. However, it shall be hard tonight with the UEFA Europa League proving to be a volatile market in which to bet on. Unfortunately it is no longer the big competition that it used to be, if you are English of course, but other countries still value the competition highly so it's going to be hard pinpointed good value that's reliable. 


I do think that Stoke will see of Besiktas tonight as they are taking the competition seriously and after collecting their first Premier League points ever against Manchester United at the weekend I feel that they will go on to take 3 points tonight at odds of 4/5 with William Hill. Stoke's home form has always been impressive and no one likes playing there and despite Besiktas beating Bursaspor 2-1 in their last away game they lost their previous two this season and will hate the physical approach adopted by the home side. On top of that Stoke were unlucky not to beat Dynamo Kiev away from home in the 1st group game so I feel that they will not fear anyone going forward, particularly at the Britannia.


My main bet tonight is a 2.5pt TREBLE that returns a decent 16.40pts on the following:

• Stoke City to beat Besiktas @ 4/5 - UEFA Europa League
• Sporting Lisbon vs Lazio - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 10/11 - UEFA Europa League
• Helsingborgs vs Elfsborgs - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 10/11 - Svenska Cupen

In addition to the above I also have a 2.5pt DOUBLE that returns 13.61pts on the following selections:

• Aalesund vs Tromso - Both teams to score = YES @ 13/20 - Norwegian Eliteserien
• Udinese to beat Celtic @ 23/20 - UEFA Europa League
