One night in Turin and betting tips for Monday

Another frustrating weekend with plenty of coupon busters out there, Millwall beating Leicester City 3-0 away from home, Manchester City beating Manchester United 6-1 to name a couple of examples. Oh well.

Torino to maintain brilliant start to season?
Moving on to tonight and hopefully the picks stand up to the test as we are not in the best of form of late. We start with Torino and they are away to Gubbio in Serie B tonight and William Hill are offering odds of 4/5 for them to record their 6th away win out of 6 games against a team who have only won once all season.

Torino have started the season in impressive form winning 8 of their 10 fixtures so far but have taken maximum points on their travels and long may that continue tonight.

Next up we go to Ireland and the Airtricity Premiership fixture between University College Dublin FC and Shamrock Rovers. William Hill are offering odds of 4/5 that both teams will score and despite the previous meeting, in the Irish Cup, ending 0-6 in Shamrock's favour I can see UCD scoring at least once tonight.

Despite that result UCD have scored 14 goals in their last 5 home games and have only failed to score once at home in the league since the end of May so they definitely have goals in them. Shamrock Rovers have conceded goals in each of their last 4 away games and have only kept two clean sheets in the league since early May and given that they have only kept a clean sheet in two of their last 8 fixtures against UCD the odds of nearly double your money are just too good to turn down.

Lastly we move to the Portuguese Liga Sagres and Sporting Lisbon CP entertain Gil Vicente. William Hill are offering odds of 5/6 that Sporting will win by two goals or more and despite the recent form of both sides I can see this representing great value. Despite Sporting's poor start to the season, hence the distorted stats, they have won their last 4 games albeit with 3 of them coming away from home. Their last home fixture ended in a 3-0 win against Vitoria Setubal and despite Gil Vicente beating Pacos Ferreira 2-1 in their last fixture I can see Sporting doing something similar tonight.

Gil Vicente lost their previous two away games 3-1 to Sporting Braga and Benfica so they obviously struggle against the bigger teams and given Sporting's recent form I can't see them taking anything from the game.

So to clarify my bet for this evening is a 2.5pt TREBLE that returns 14.85pts on the following selections:

  • Torino to beat Gubbio @ 4/5 - Italian Serie B
  • UCD vs Shamrock Rovers - Both teams to score = YES @ 4/5 - Irish Premiership
  • Sporting Lisbon (-1 goal) to beat Gil Vicente @ 5/6 - Portuguese Liga Sagres

If all goes well we are back in the game but if we lose then we are closer to losing the month to the bookie so it's a big night indeed!
