Dream Team FC

I finally got round to entering my dream teams into the various competitions today, after studying the upcoming fixtures  for my tips of course, and I must say that I do find this task very exciting indeed. It's the only chance you get as a fan to pick your team's squad for them!


Ok so you can't actually buy Wayne Rooney for £8million, but that's besides the point!

I've entered a team onto the Premier League Official site as that's a good competition to play week to week as you get to pick a squad and not just 11 players. However, I've entered one team, obviously called CanaryTips FC, into the Sun Dream Team competition as this one offers regular cash prizes for nothing!


My team, which used the entire £50million available, is as follows:


GK: Peter Cech


DEF: William Gallas, Joleon Lescott, Leighton Baines & Stephen Warnock


MID: Frank Lampard, Yohan Cabaye, Jamie O'Hara


ATT: Javier Hernandez, Gervinho, Wayne Rooney

Now, moving to the real business and it's the start of the English Premier League, well excluding Tottenham & Everton anyway. I have studied the teams and fixtures for this weekend and my picks are as follows:


Friday 12th August


Just a simple 2.5pt DOUBLE for today which returns 9.56pts on the following:

• Angers vs Istres - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 5/4 - French Ligue 2
• Willem II to beat go Ahead Eagles @ 7/10 - Dutch Jupiler League

Saturday 13th August


Once again I have gone for a two pronged attack and I start with a 0.5pt TRIXIE that returns 10.59pts on the following picks:

• Fulham to beat Aston Villa @ 6/5 - English Premier League
• Colchester United to beat Wycombe Wanderers @ 19/20 - nPower League 1
• Bristol Rovers to beat Torquay United @ EVENS - nPower League 2

On the Goals Galore market I have gone for a 0.5pt TRIXIE that pays out 8.41pts on the following selections:

• Newcastle United vs Arsenal - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 10/11 - English Premier League
• Leeds United vs Middlesboro - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 8/11 - nPower Championship
• Notts County vs Charlton Athletic - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 19/20 - nPower League 1

A 1pt SIXFOLD pays out a handsome 55.17pts should all of the above selections for Saturday come home.

Sunday 14th August

For Sunday I have gone for another 0.5pt TRIXIE that returns 10.39pts on the following:

• Cardiff City to beat Bristol City @ 8/11 - nPower Championship
• Spartak Moscow vs Anzhi Makhachkala - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 13/10 - Russian Premier League
• GAIS Gothenburg to beat Kalmar FF @ 11/10 - Swedish Allsvenskan

A 0.5pt ACCUMULATOR on all 11 of the weekend selections pays out a mammoth 880.28pts so that takes my total outlay for the weekend to 10pts.
