Thursday's football betting tips

Three from three last night returned a profit of 7.84pts and takes our selection success rate to 61.70% for the month of October so far. That makes me a content Canary at the moment but hopefully we can build on that this evening.


I have two main selections today starting with the Finnish Veikkausliiga and the match between FC Kuopio and Honka. Whilst the teams are only separated by one place in the league table the 13/10 odds for an away win for Honka, offered by William Hill, is just too good to turn down in my opinion.

Derry City to match Shamrock Rovers tonight?

Ok so FC Kuopio have won 4 of their last 6 home fixtures Honka are undefeated in their last 9 games home or away and have scored a hefty 17 goals in their last 7 away games in the league so they definitely have the scoring power. In the 17 previous matches between the two sides Honka have won 13 which includes the last ten meetings with the vast majority of them coming by two goals or more. It shall be tight but I believe we will take some sneaky profit there tonight.


The other selection in today's main double is the match between Shamrock Rovers & Derry City in the Irish Airtricity Premier Division. I am also fancying an away result here as well despite Europa League entrants Shamrocks sitting at the top of the table and Derry City looking up at them from 3rd place. Derry have failed to lose to Shamrock in their last three meetings, winning one and drawing the other two and they also boast an impressive unbeaten record that now stretches to 20 matches in all competitions. Derry have also won 5 of their last 6 away games in the league and with Shamrock having to think about Europe we could well see a surprise tonight.


Although I am taking the safer option of the DOUBLE CHANCE odds of 8/11 from William Hill that Derry City do not lose tonight so a draw would still return us profit. Better safe than sorry but the win just might be pushing my luck a little bit too much.


So my main bet for this evening is a 2.5pt DOUBLE that returns 9.93pts on the following selections:

• Honka to beat FC Kuopio @ 13/10 - Finnish Veikkausliiga
• Derry City to not lose vs Shamrock Rovers @ 8/11 - Irish Airtricity Premier Division

My secondary bet is a simple 2.5pt TREBLE that returns 9.46pts on the following 'bankers':

• TPS Turku to beat Mypa @ 4/9 - Finnish Veikausliiga
• Malmo FF vs Hacken - Both teams to score = YES @ 4/6 - Swedish Allsvenskan
• Vernamo vs Hammarby - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 4/7 - Swedish Superettan

A 1pt FIVEFOLD on all 5 selections pays out 15.03pts so that takes the total stake for today to 6pts with a maximum return potential of 34.42pts but of course I just need the one to come in to make profit.
