Tuesday's football betting tips

A disappointing night last night with only 1 of the 4 selections coming home but we shall be putting that right this evening with a full Championship fixture list accompanied by some tasty UEFA Champions League fixtures.

Crystal Palace to beat Bristol City tonight?

I'll start with the Championship fixtures and am tempted by William Hill's odds of 10/11 for Crystal Palace to beat Bristol City at Selhurst Park this evening. Despite the fact that Crystal Palace have failed to win in their last 3 home games, a run does include two draws against former Premier League teams and they also beat Wigan and Middlesbrough at home in the Carling Cup, they have won two of their last 3 fixtures both of which were tough away fixtures.


Bristol City on the other hand have failed to win in their last 8 fixtures, including their last two away from home, and they have yet to appoint a new manager so they are there for the taking tonight in my opinion. If the odds were lower I would stay away but it's basically double your money for an in form side to beat a failing side at their home ground so it must be snapped up.


Next up in the Championship is Leeds United vs Coventry City at Elland Road. William Hill are offering odds of 4/6 that Leeds United will win at home tonight and despite the odds I will be taking this up tonight. Despite Coventry's win at home to Nottingham Forest at weekend they have been poor this season and have only taken 1 point away from the Ricoh Arena this season. Leeds United on the other hand have won their last 4 league games at Elland Road scoring 10 goals in the process and following their impressive 3-0 win away at Doncaster Rovers on Friday, which also gives them an extra 24 hours rest, I can't see anything other than a home win tonight.


Moving on to the UEFA Champions League and we go to tonight's tightest calls and that's for there to be 3 goals or more in the game between Lille and Inter Milan. William Hill are offering odds of 19/20 for this to be the case and I can see why the odds are the same for it to go either way but I am confident that there will be goals tonight. Inter Milan's last 6 away games in the UEFA Champions League have all produced 3 goals or more, in fact they have produced 24 goals which works out at 4 goals a game. Lille on the other hand were involved in a 2-2 draw at their own stadium in the previous round of fixtures against CSKA Moscow and I am hoping for more of the same tonight, even if they have only had 3 of their last 6 home games with 3 goals or more.


So to clarify my bet for this evening is a 2.5pt TREBLE that returns 15.51pts on the following selections:

• Crystal Palace to beat Bristol City @ 10/11 - nPower Championship
• Leeds United to beat Coventry City @ 4/6 - nPower Championship
• Lille vs Inter Milan - Total goals OVER 2.5 @ 19/20 - UEFA Champions League

In addition to the three selections above, throwing in wins for Manchester City (3/10) and Manchester United (1/5) tonight, against Villarreal and SC Otelul Galati respectively, pays out 14.52pts for a 1pt FIVEFOLD.
