I think it's safe to say that day 1 of the European Championships was more exciting and entertaining than anyone first thought and to top it off, we took 15.50pts profit from the bookie.
We correctly predicted the opening game between co-hosts Poland and Greece would end in a draw and Russia would be too good for Czech Republic. That said when Greece came in at half-time one nil down and reduced to ten men I wasn't entirely confident that they would turn it around but thankfully for us they did.
Blimey they even had to decency to miss a penalty for us.
Moving on to today and we have a 2.5pt TREBLE that returns 15.34pts on the following selections:
- The Netherlands to beat Denmark @ 8/11 - Group B
- Germany to beat Portugal @ 6/5 - Group B
- Halmstads to beat Varberg @ 8/13 - Swedish Superettan
Brief summary....
I believe that giving odds of 8/11 for The Netherlands to beat Denmark is just too good for us to turn down. Let's not forget that in the last World Cup in South Africa the Oranje were comfortable 2-0 winners over the Danes so they certainly know what it takes. They also haven't lost to Denmark since 1967 but to be fair there have been some draws in that run.
Denmark though will be no pushovers as they have claimed some credible results over the past couple of seasons and will certainly run the Dutch close tonight but looking at the quality of the two sides and their relative comparable recent form then I just can't see past the Dutch tonight.
As for Germany to beat Portugal I might as well say ditto to the above, just swap The Netherlands for Germany and Denmark for Portugal. Ok so it's been an extra two years since these two nations met but the fact remains let Germany beat Portugal in World Cup 2006 and in Euro 2008.
They know what they are doing and this Portugal side, if anything, have gone backwards since those previous meetings whereas Germany are pretty much in their prime at the moment.
To round off the treble I have also gone for Halmstads to beat Varberg in the Swedish Superettan. Halmstads have won 4 of their 5 home games in the league this season whereas Varberg have just one away win to their name and that was their 1st away game of the season.
This won't be a walkover but the odds are just about good enough to add this to our bet today but feel free to pick and choose which ones you want to take.
